Tubal Reversal

This is a procedure performed on women who have had their tubes "tied," and is their only cause for infertility.

An overview of our tubal reversal program is detailed below. In addition, you may want to refer to our information on the following topics:

Florida Fertility Institute (FFI) will perform your microtubal reanastomosis (reversal) in the Tampa Bay area for the all-inclusive price of $5,500.00. That's less than half the cost for one cycle of in-vitro-fertilization!

This $5,500.00 fee includes:

  • Consultation fee
  • The FFI surgical fee
  • Anesthesia fee
  • Operating room fees
  • Hospital fees

The surgery is done as an outpatient procedure. Even with airfare and hotel, the tubal reversal cost is among the most affordable in the country! Check for yourself, and then contact us.

Unfortunately, our $5,500.00 all-inclusive fee does not apply to patients in higher risk categories that require additional surgical time. This includes patients with multiple prior abdominal surgeries or other conditions that may predispose the patient to intra-abdominal scar tissue. Obese patients may still undergo the Outpatient tubal reversal procedure at a higher cost depending on the additional required surgical time.

Tubal Reversal Continued...

Tubal ligation reversal (reanastomosis) is a surgical procedure, which can restore the function of fallopian tubes after tubal ligation. Pregnancy rates are excellent. Our physicians have been subspecialty trained in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Reversal operations are performed using microsurgical techniques, in which loupes (special magnifying eye glasses) are used to visualize and reconnect the tiny hollow center portion of the fallopian tubes. Microsurgery also uses suture finer than a hair, the smallest possible incisions (approximately 3 inches), micorsurgical instruments and non-traumatic tissue handling techniques. Patients go home the same day.

Cost is a major factor to be considered, because tubal reversals usually are not covered by insurance. The services are provided as a package which includes the cost of the surgeon's fees, anesthesia fees and operating room charges, with the total cost being $5,500.00.

To All Prospective Tubal Reversal Patients:

Only Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologists do the reversals.

The success rate is excellent. Patients best suited for the procedure are less than 40 years old, who have had a postpartum tubal ligation; however other types of tubals can easily be reversed depending on the type of procedure performed.

The operative reports and pathology reports are helpful, however not 100% essential. The procedure is not part of an experimental protocol. The number of reversals done per year varies according to demand; however the physicians doing the reversals have done thousands.

In summary, in the appropriately selected patient population, a tubal reversal is effective, with excellent pregnancy rates; has a fast recovery time, very few complications, and is well tolerated. Women have had this procedure from all over the country and are very satisfied with their care and ultimate results. Please contact us for further information.
